The bank reconciliation feature should automate your transactions, but it would be nice to schedule payments all in the same place. But the lack of automated bill payment is a huge drawback. Sage’s accounts payable features are good, as they show you your current cash in, cash out and balance totals. This helps you see when all your bills are due and schedule batch payments accordingly. Entering these bills is easy thanks to receipt capture with Hubdoc. You can enter five bills on the base plan, but this becomes unlimited on the higher plans. Xero also uses Stripe as well as GoCardless, so it can take ACH debit payments as well.īill payment is something Xero excels at. You can also set automatic reminders so you don’t have to chase down your clients. Xero, on the other hand, lets you customize your invoices with your own logo and text. It also partners with Stripe so you can take card payments with ease. Sage lets you create invoices directly from quotes and estimates, send them to customers and automatically track outstanding invoices to see what you’re owed. Xero and Sage’s main selling point is their intuitive invoicing systems. If you’re a bigger business, you might benefit from Xero’s higher tiers, which include more robust accounting features. Sage is cheaper all around, and we definitely think it’s the better option for the base tier, especially for self-employed entrepreneurs and very small businesses.
